pigeons first time egg

brianaprothero May 01, 2005 12:40 AM

My female pigeon just had her first egg ever. It's an infertle one. I know this from experience. She just finally laid because she became interested in the nest and really wants to breed so she acts like it with the other female in the cage. So like hens, she's finally laying without a male. I think its normal not to sit on her first one but I am not sure. Does anyone have any personal experience like this with thier pigeons. I plan on breeding her for real and want her to do good with her eggs. she just laid it tonight. She's standing inside the nest but doesent know what to do.

She actually seems to be laying on it now, but there's no male so she's the only one doing it and has to get off to eat. But now she has two. Usually there is two when my pigeons have mated. If they dont I only notice the hens having one infertle one. Is anyone used to thier pigeons have two infertle eggs a day appart? They look clear to me. The other one cant be a male, I havent seen any action and it has no interest in helping her with the eggs, and it acts too much like a female. I really need to find a male for her. so she can sit on them for a reason.
