Speak of the Devil...(Long)

This is in regards to the post below...

Its a good thing i researched (a little) the care of goslings b/c today i need it! I was walking along the pond when all of the sudden i heard a baby duck shrieking. The snapping turtle in the pond (he is a big snapper) was trying to kill one of the little baby goslings. The parents of the bird tried to help it for like 5 minutes then they ran off ( i hate how the adults just give up so easily) i saw no other alternative so i took a 2x4, took of my socks and jumped into the pond. Now the pond is the most distgusting thing in the world. It is 3 feet deep at the deepest point (luckily the attak took place near some cattails towards one end of the pond. The pond (where i was "wading" more like trekking) is about 1 ft of water and 2 feet of dirty, smell black mud. I went for the duck and felt around with the stick to find where the snapping turtle was. He was about 3 feet away from me and inbetween him and me was the helpless little goose. I took the 2X4 and started wailing down blows on to the shell of the turtle, it didn;t seem to work and just as i thought that the ordeal was over and that the beast had won i found its head underwater (by feeling around and whacked it. He let go off the gosling (which i them grabbed) and i started running for my life! Those guys could easily take a chunk out of your leg, they easilysnap sticks in half that areabout 4" thick! Well now i have the gosling setup in an old dog cage.

Its doing well it has a minor wound on its leg (which i treated) and is only limping slightly. I am not going to take the risk of trying to reintroduce him back to his parents because after he got away from the Snapper he just layed at the waters edge and the parents just walked off. So i walked him around my yard and let him eat (he likes dandelion leaves, clovers and another plant i cant identify) He is now in the dog cage which is setup with a small water dish, dish of food (the plants i gathered) and a small (1' x 8" x 3" approx.) tray with old dead grass for him to bed in. Overall hes ingood shape and ill try to get him to an animal rescue center in a few days or a week. Any other suggestions for this PLEASE POST! and thanks for reading this LOOOOOOONNNNNG Post!

That sounds like quite the ordeal. Any updates on the adventure? Did you try bringing the gosling back to the parents again? Is it still with you? Is it at an Animal Rescue Center? How did the injury heal? How is the snapper? Quite the incident, I hope to hear some updates.
