sick rooster

judymc May 16, 2005 06:44 PM

I have a bantam rooster about a year old that has gotten sick. He stands with his tail down and looks sleepy. His feathers look alittle ruffled. I've been giving him a few drops of antibiotic 2 x a day. His crop is full and hard but I don't think he's eating much. Could that be the problem and does anyone know what I can do?

Well this is too little too late but might help someone down the road. he might have an impacted crop. Something is blocking the food from leaving the crop. Some people do their own surgery to fix this, i personally wouldnt. Some also use mineral oil. You must be very careful to not get it down the windpipe, it will kill him.
