Hi,
My husband found a tiny pink egg in the middle of our yard where there are no trees and no nest. He brought it to me and being the mother hen I am, I feel like I have to try to save it, (if it is even fertilized. So here is my question to those of you who know.....
1) I now have the egg tucked under my own breast. where I guess it will stay unless someone thinks it will get too warm there. I read that it should be incubated for about 14 days if it is the natural parents hatching it. WHat do you think? Is this an okay place for it to be?
2) Is there a way to tell if the egg is fertilized? My hubby thinks maybe it isn't fertilized so the egg laid it in mid flight, But I don't have the hart to just throw it away because he thinks that. Is there a way to "KNOW"?
3) what should I feed it if it does hatch? I am still lactating from my own son, I have heard some are feeding it baby formula, should I feed it breast milk with a had rearing formula on the maket? I heard that doves secreat milk for thier babies is that true? Any info would help. Thanks so much!
