cherrycircus May 21, 2005 01:13 AM

ok im going to pck up 4 pekins tommorow and i was sent a picture of the ducks. 2 of the 4 are defintely typical white peign the other 2 are brown. solid chocolate brown. i have raised rouen and muscovy ducks and am not so familiar with the pekin but i thougt they were all white. i will take the ducks in any case but was wondering in anyone could gine me some insight. they are actually quite beautiful jus wondering what breed they may be.

I have only seen Pekins come in white. Those are most likely Khaki Campbells or Chocolate Indian Runners. How do they move? If they have an upright stance and literally run, without waddling, they are runners. If not, they are most-likely Campbells.

Here are URLs to photos of those breeds mentioned:

Chocolate Indian Runner:

(the one infront is the chocolate)

Those are the most common that they might be, but here are some other possibilities:

Chocolate Muscovy:

Silky Duck:

Possible non-domestic breeds they may be:

i was pretty positive they werent pekins and the woman was insistant. i went to go pick up the ducks - and what to my surprise. there was 1 rouen, 2 khaki campbells, and 1 choclate runner. all are about 10 weeks old. of course i took all of them and they are happily getting along with all of my other ducks.
the woman still insisted that the were WHITE PEKINS.
i thought it was pretty funny.
