Hello,

My 6 year old Ringneck was egg bound for the first time, which concerns me because she has sufficient calcium in her diet. Around 8pm, after when the vets were closed, she finally expelled her egg. It was an empty shell, and a red ball that appeared to be the yolk. I don't believe anything is stuck in her, but there is no way to know till the vets open up in the morning. Not only that, it appears that she had a hemorrhoid. I wrapped her up for a few hours so she wouldn't pick at it (an potentially infect it.) This also keeps her warm. She got the hemmorhoid when she attempted to defecate (poor thing, how could she? When she didn't eat all day?)

I bought 8 in 1's Marvel Aid (Sulfadimethoxine) antibacterial. My belief was that if something is stuck in there that may infect her, might was well attempt administer some kind of antibacterial till the next day.

I've only given her 2 cc's every 2 hours. Did this 3 times today. And I've kept her very warm with my body. If anybody can give me advice till the vets open, please tell me. San Jose has bunch of vets, but I have to go to Sunnyvale for a decent bird specialist.

How do I prevent this? She appeared to be healthy yesterday-- and suddenly, she became sick. I hate how Noel (her name) fluffs up, and lets me touch her face without a struggle. It's so unlike her. Cartman, the other dove, is the sweet one. I can message her ear area, and she loves it.
