ducks generally start to mate at about 5 months. however , they dont always lay fertile eggs until about a year old. the only way to tell if it was a successful mating is to candle the eggs and see if they are fertile. ducks generally lay in the morning. mine lay at about 9 - 10 am . i have heard the same from other people who raise ducks. pekins are not the best sitters alot of times they do the drop and run. and ducks generally dont sit on the eggs until they have a full clutch. with a pekin if she doesnt go broody you may have to use an incubator , another duck, or a chicken to hatch the eggs. good luck.
