Muscovy things

iyiy Aug 29, 2005 08:08 PM

My two Muscovies, whenever they see me, will bob their heads and make little noises. When I pat them , they kind of bend lower and spread their wigns out a bit. What are they doing?

Also, they will wag their tails and bob their heads and "quack" loudly when they see someone they don't know. Is this aggressive behaviour? (they seem to bite anyone except for me).

Hey,

I have Muscys, and what you described seems to be a way for them to greet each other.
Muscys tame easily, and are very friendly ducks.

Hey,

Yeah it is a form of mating behaviour. But i have drakes, and my females do it to each other so i don't think it's solely to do with mating. But thats just a guess

muscovies dont quack . also i have had aggression- biting etc.. in all but one of my muscovies. i have 9 breeds of ducks and the muscovy is not my favorite. but i could give you more info if you like as i have raised them and still have some.
