Sounds like he might have an infection of some sort. What is his breathing like? any discharge from the nose? Get some antibiotics fromt he feed store,i thinky ou can get them there, terramyacin 9sp?) is what comes to mind. If you are really worried about him, try finding a vet. I can only give information that i have read, a vet would know better. The symptoms are very common for a variety of chicken health problems...
there is no discharge from his nose. His breathing is fine. He is just very sleepy and doesnt want to eat. i have been able to get some water in him with a eye dropper. I am concerned since it will be going on the third day that he has not ate. Also his tail feathers are down. Do you think it is okay to give him pedalyte? thank you very much for the info on the terramyacin. if you can think of anything else i could do for him that would be great!
Pedialyte will be good for him, be carful feeding it to him though. Dont put it down his throat, put it just inside his mouth, only a few drops at a time. If it goes into his lungs it could make his problems worse. I'm no expert, i dont know what is definatly wrong with him. It sounds like an infection being he is running a bit warm. Tail down in a hen is possible egg binding (which isnt possible with a roo!). Definatly means he doesnt feel well...I'm sorry i cant be of more help, this board is so baron. Try www.the-coop.com Lots of experts there and lots of information from other people with similar situations. Go there and click on The classroom. You do have to register in order to post. Good luck!
