Anyone have any tips on how to make a homemade incubator for duck eggs?
You can use a 5-10 gallon fish aquarium. You'll need a clip-on light, thermometer, towel, windex-type spray bottle, and a lot of patience. Eggs need turned minimally three times daily. Also, they'll need to be candled and misted with warm water. A constant temp is required so you'll have to fidget with the light source frequently. I did this last year and out of 33 eggs, only 1 actually hatched and ended up being a normal duck. One hatched early and died very soon after. All others never hatched. It is very difficult to maintain the correct heat and humidity for the eggs. There are some web sites you can visit for more info. Metzger Farms has one that tells how to incubate eggs. Try typing that into a search engine and see what comes up. Good Luck with your efforts!

this is relatively easy question to answer. the first answer was correct but what you need to do is keep the temp. at about 100.5 and monitpr ot every day. do wet the eggs. just moisture the sides to keep the humidity up - humidity is most important!! you can actually use a deep deep bowl of you dont have an aquarium. this is how i hatched egs before i got an incubator. you want to hand about a 40 watt bulb and keep the heat consistant. candle the eggs every day. i have not done as many as 30 plus at a time. i have done 5 ish and have come out with about 2 to 3 every time. at the end - last 3 days you need to stop turning and make sure the humidity is really up. keep the towels damp but not wet and keep the insides of the tank moist and you should be ok. good luck.
