We live in Northern Michigan, and a peacock has adopted us.
It showed up in August and stayed around eating the cast-off seed from our bird feeders. We live in a semi-rural area on 5 acres with heavy woods behind the house.

Now almost October, we have been feeding it "turkey chow" and cracked corn daily and put out water for it.

My concern is the coming winter here (mostly lower teens at night, but can get to -20 F) and a fierce westerly wind blowing off Lake Michigan.

The peacock roosts in a tree near the house at night, and stays in the shelter of the bushes near the house in the daytime.

Any suggestions as to a winter shelter for the poor bird? I was thinking dog igloo or putting up plywood with straw piled on it over the bushes by the house where the peacock sits. We don't have enough flat ground room to build a big coop. We do have many wild turkeys in the area, along with coyotes, skunks, and weasels.

Feeling special that it has picked our house to hang around, I would like give it a chance to survive the winter. Advice would
be greatly appreciated.
