Foot Injury to Webbing

GrammaDuck Oct 17, 2005 09:00 AM

Does anyone know if the webbing of the feet will heal when ripped or torn? One of my ducks got chomped by a turtle and it sliced the webbing completely from leg outward. I've cleaned it and applied antibiotic ointment but it is difficult to keep a duck off it's feet. I'm sure it is getting grimy again. The duck is limping a good deal and I don't really have access to a vet that treats ducks.

Hey,

I had a similar problem awhile ago, but on a smaller scale. One of my ducks had a slight cut on the webbing. I just bathed the foot in warm salty water, and afterwards kept the foot as dry as possible. As long at the wound or foot doesn't become infected it should heal fairly quickly.
