duck behaviour

daveytz Feb 24, 2006 06:44 AM

I have 2 male Aylesbury's, one of which is quite timid and another who is rather mischevious. When I go out to see him he always bows his head and sticks his bottom up in the air and gives a little whistle, his feathers on his head also stick up a little. Does anyone have any idea as to what this behaviour is? I think it is a greeting but would like to know if anyone else see this? He also often gets excited and tries to run up my arm whilst shaking his beak frantically (not biting)! is this affection or aggression?

Hello, the head shaking and running up your arm is a sign of affection and the other behavior is actually a sign of acknowledgement that you are dominant in his eyes.
