Hello,
About 2.5 weeks ago I found a baby mourning dove while I was walking my dog. I took it in because it was near featherless and had obviously gone a while without food. I've been feeding it Lafeber's Instant Nutri-Start and "Baby-Bird" got fat and feathery and is beginning to resemble a 'real' mourning dove. He can't get off the floor yet when it flies, but will soon. I want to release "Baby-Bird" when it can fly, but I also want to make sure he knows how to survive in the bush. I am laying out bird seed in the cage, but he does not seem to be eating it. Will he just begin eating seeds on his own? Also, will he be safe in the wild if I release him once he begins to fly?

Thanks,
Ian

,the picture (believe it or not) is not of the mourning dove. That is my green cheek conure, zazu.
