Sick Chickens?

Karis May 25, 2006 01:35 PM

Hope someone can help me. A friend of mine raises chickens, and has recently noticed that some of them have purple/redish colored back ends. Also states that the area seems inflammed. Not all of them have this, and it doesn't matter if they are males or females. So far, she has contacted Vets and the local University Avery dept and no one has been able to help.
Hope someone will read this and be able to help with some information.
Thanks

Do they have any other symtoms? It could be an alergic reaction to some kind of plant or have other chickens been pecking at them? Either way, you can get skin oils and creams at the feed store that will help it heal.
