I have a pair of pekin ducks that are a little over a year old. I put them out in their kiddy pool on thursday because it was a nice day & they go in it on every nice day. I forgot that they were in it & at about 11pm I heard a loud quack & realized that they were still in the pool(yes, I feel really bad & stupid for this). I found my male walking around my front yard & the female was nowhere to be seen(very unusual as they are practically connected at the hip). I found my female in my next door neighbor's yard laying on her side. She couldn't stand up but was trying to & she was fully responsive. She only had two small wounds. One is about an inch & a 1/2 away from her left eye & one on the back of her neck (which don't look like they could line up). I figured that she was in shock so I put idoine on the wounds & put her in a laundry basket in my room so I could watch her. The next day, she still wasn't standing up, just laying on her side, but I could hold her up & she ate and drank. Now she is able to hold herself up in the laundry basket & can lay properly, but she can't stand or walk w/out falling over outside of the laundry basket, but she can eat and drink fine & she also started quacking again yesterday. I believe that she got attacked by a fox because it had to be quick to get to her w/out getting attacked by my male because he protects her w/ his life. I have a scottish terrier, which wants to play with or go after any other one of the pets that I have but my male pecked her on the head & chased after her with his wings out & now she doesn't come anywhere near them. I was just wondering if something like this was ever happened to anyone on here & what was the outcome. I tried calling around to find a vet to take her to but I was told that the vet has to have a license to take care of ducks because they are considered "wildlife" yet I told them that it is a domesticated pet duck(by the way, I live in MA if that helps) Any advice is greatly welcomed. I don't know what my male would do without his girlfriend.
Thanks
