? about building my own cage

I have two ring neck doves, right now they live in cage about 24x18x24. It seems a bit cramped for them though. I don't have a lot to sepnd on a new cage so I thought building one would be good. I was looking at 36x24x48 for the size, but am not sure how to go about this. Any help would be appreciated.
