So a year ago we got spike - see my other posts for pictures - We love spike to death, she is sitting on 6 runner duck eggs right now. She was broody and laid infertile eggs and we just couldn't bear the thought of letting her sit on them for a month for nothing to happen. So we bought her some real ones. So anyway, we are moving into an apartment in about 2 months and are at a stand still on what to do with spike. We love love love her. I've been crying day in and day out about her. I don't know what to do!!! We have a lady that lives on a farm that would take her but we don't want her to become disconnected with us or not like human contact anymore. She's so used to being pampered! What Should we do???

I just wonder why you knew you were moving to apartment that you woudl decide to hatch eggs? If your duck is imprinted she wont take nicely to you finding her another home. She will need to bond with her new owners and likely she wont want any contact with you. Its a choice you need to make whether you want whats best for her or whats best for you.

I know, it's just awful - I don't know why we did it either. But now my boyfriend's parents said that she could stay there. It's where she stays right now anyway with her eggs so it will be great. She already loves it there and we can see her anytime that we want.
