All sorts of questions..

I have had ducks before, but have had awful luck. I started with 3 pekin ducklings two years ago, and we lost two of them within days of each other. That left one duck, whom we had for a year. He was like a dog. He would come when called and alsways stayed on the property.
In May we bought three more ducklings to keep our lone duck company. Again, two died for unknown reasons and one lived to keep my other male company. On June 20th of this year, we found the ducks missing. I followed a trail of feathers and came across our beuatiful yr. old pekin boy. He had been attacked by something and it was not a pretty sight. We never found the younger duck.
It has been very lonely since he died. I finally found some ducks advertised and decided to buy them. They are a male and female rouen with muscovy cross ducklings.
The male will NOT leave the babies alone. He is pinning them and biting their necks and will not let them eat, drink or be near their mother. He furiously defends the female.
I have separated them to keep the ducklings safe, but the male is pining for the female and eventually I want them in the same flock, but how is it possible with this drake being such a jerk?

If you dont provide them with predator protection your just feeding raccoons. PLease build your ducks a safe pen so they can be safe.
