Hawk training and info for PHBudgy

falconer44 Apr 09, 2003 07:12 PM

I have had Thumper now since early January, and i got him when he was immature, or a "passage bird" (meaning he does not have redtail feathers yet, and he is under a year old). Once i got him, i immeadiatly started training. The first 3 days, i just held him on my hand, waiting for him to eat. On the 3rd night, at about 10:30pm, he finally ate. After that, it was clockwork, and his training came along nicely.

Right now he is in the moult, which im sure all of you bird folk know about, and he will be getting his redtail feathers this summer.

*******Please note that falconry is ILLEAGAL unless you have permits from the state, and the federal government. If you are interested in falconry, please contact your local fish and game department for more info.*******

I also have a website, My falconry website

If you want any more info., feel free to ask!
