PLEASE HELP!!! We recently moved to a house in Texas on the banks of a marshy pond and for the past 6 DAYS, a bird has been literally slamming herself into the same window of our house! It is rather large bird, buff with brown spots, and a very long, straight, skinny beak. She comes to the same branch every morning, afternoon, and evening and spends 15 minutes flying into a window that is 22 feet high over and over. We checked the eaves and see no openings for nesting and have placed a piece of white posterboard on the inside of the window in hopes that she can't see through, but she keeps on returning day after day. Does anyone have any idea why she is doing this and/or have any advice on how to get her to stop this? My mother says it is a sign of death for a bird to want so desparately to get into the house. Now I'm freaked. PLEASE HELP!!!!
