I suddenly realized yesterday, that I have not seen any sparrows, at least all summer! We have a lot of bird feeders where many, many birds come to eat... but no sparrows! Anyone know why?

That may depend on where you are located. Here (southern Ontario) we get a major influx of Zonotrichia (White Throated and White Crowned Sparrows) in the spring, then they head up north to breed. In general, since food is more widely available in the summer, birds tend to visit feeders less frequently. Maybe they are so busy breeding there is no time to eat! Look forward to the fall, when you can expect to see another influx of migrating sparrows.
