Need help, birds flying into windows.

deluge Apr 03, 2006 11:38 PM

Is there anything I can do or buy to keep birds from flying into our windows? We just had a house built and we have lots of windows. Although my curtains aren't finished being made yet, not all of them will completly close to cover up the windows. We've already had 4 that I know of to hit the windows. The little guy this morning was shaken, but he did fly away. I feel awful when I see one on the ground, but I don't know what to do. I've googled and can't find any answers. Please if you know something that I can do, let me know. Many thanks in advance.

This is a common problem, and very unfortunate. There are a few things that you can try. Curtains or blinds will probably help. Also, window stickers or hawk decals may work, like the ones on this page http://store.birdwatching.net/store/Search.bok?category=Garden. You could try screens in front of the windows, or hanging ornaments such as wind chimes or dream catchers. Things on the outside will be more visible and work better than things on the inside. Hope this helps!
