I found it at school and brought it home before anyone had the chance to step on it. It was barely moving, but it's pretty hyper, now that it's warmed up.

Just want to know what it is. :3 I live in NY, so... it's not anyting from South America or something like that. :P

I tried to load your pictures twice with no luck. Maybe you can load/attach the images through KS.

Sorry, I'm new to these boards, so I'm not sure what KS is or how to use it.

Hi there,

It's a diving beatle of some sort. I have seen them before but I don't know the exact species. Keep it in a small aquarium. Feed it tiny fish, tadpoles or other such prey. And be care - large ones do have a bite.

Ah, I thought I'd seen one in my pond before. It's getting really cold (and quick!) here, though, so I'd like to avoid sticking this one in a freezing cold pond and just having it die.

I've been keeping it in a small tank/aquarium. I'll put some water in it and put it on a heating pad and see how it does. I don't know how I'm going to get a hold of fish or tadpoles, though. :| I'll need to check my petshop. I'll try dropping a few crickets in there for the time being, I guess.

(And the little bugger DID try to bite me while I was waiting for my bus. It didn't make it through the skin on my palm before I noticed, though. xD)

Go to your locale petshop and buy some small feeder guppies for it. You can get small ones.
