An orange fly (help for id)

pilonm Dec 11, 2006 11:12 AM

Hello,

I took this picture of a fly of the Tachinidae family photographied at East Angus Quebec (near Vermont/Maine) last August 5th.

Could it be Hystricia abrupta?

Any idea about the species?

Thank you very much in advance,

Michel

Hi Michel,

i dont know about Hystricia abrupta, because i cant find a picture of it.
But i did find a picture of Adejeania vexatrix that looks very similar to your fly. Actually its a drawing.

Hi Michel,

ive seen your image on Bugguide and found some other pictures of it there. I think its what you suggested afterall. Although there are obviously more look-a-likes, considering the image i found.

Jeroen
