WALA (Mobile, Alabama) 10 January 07 Scorpion on a plane stings Vermont man
Montpelier, Vt.: Snakes on a plane? No.
One passenger screamed, "It's a scorpion," as another stepped on the two-inch critter that stung David Sullivan on the back of the leg. The scorpion then crawled up and down his leg, before getting him again.
United Airlines is trying to determine how the critter got on board.
Sullivan was flying home to Vermont and noticed his right leg felt as if it was being jabbed with "a sharp piece of plastic or something."
Sullivan rolled up his cuff and the scorpion fell out. He then headed to the hospital where he's recovering.
A United spokeswoman apologizes for the incident, saying customer safety and security is the company's top priority.
Doctors say scorpion bites are rarely fatal for healthy adults.
