Sure I can try, sorry I missed this before.
I used a 2x4 frame which may have been overkill, but sure is sturdy. The frame has 4 2x4's at each corner, and then a frame built around it. This alone could be a stand if done right, it holds all the weight. Then I cut plywood for the top, sides, and front. The sides and the top were easy; the front was another issue, as I cut the door freehand. I plan to make a new door, but for not it works. To be totally honest the molding was a pain, since I did not have the right saw to cut it. Now I will say this I did work for a year in college making oak furniture, so I have a little bit of an idea what I am doing, but I lack a lot of the proper tools. I made mine and inch longer and wider than the tank.
You can make a very simple and nice stand out of 2x4s and deck screws. I like to glue mine too just to be safe. Now if you make one for much over a 30gal, you will need a 2x4 in the middle on the front and back also. If it is for a really big tank 4x4s might be better. I am going to build one totally out of 1x2's and see what it comes out like. Should be very easy to cut and that is like the store ones. We will see.
Let me know if you have any questions, I have lost the one good link i had for the basic idea.
