Need help with identification

trickyfizzer Mar 18, 2009 06:07 PM

Hi everyone. I need some help identifying this insect. A few days ago, I noticed tons of these things crawling around on the deck in my back yard. They are very small (like ants, some smaller) and are a dark gray or light gray color. The head of the nail in the pic is about 1/4 inch in diameter.

I sprayed down some Ortho insect killer from Home Depot, but it has had no effect. What should I do?

Hard to tell from the photo, not very clear. You should never spray until you know what something is (my opinion). It could be a nymph stage of something beneficial. We need to learn to live with things sometimes.

Post this to www.bugguide.net in their ID request section and someone will likely i.d. it for you or at least head you in the right direction.
