what is this?

Hello all!

Found this little guy while cleaning at work. Work's in North County San Diego, about an hour south of Riverside and east from the beach. He was about 3 inches across, counting his legs.

I've only ever seen the great big brown tarantulas around here (I think they're rosehairs but I haven't seen any around yet this year) so I have no idea what this little guy is.

Thanks for looking!

Looks like a Lycosid (Wolf spider). I'm not sure of the exact genus or species.

Also, the Rose hair tarantulas are native to Chile in South America. Most likely you've seen one of the few tarantulas native to southern California.

It looks to be a wolf spider of some sort... def. not a rosehair.
