young rosies - how old for size?

Buggzter Jul 14, 2007 01:04 PM

I have two baby rosies, both which are moulting around the same time. One is just over 1/2" right before moulting, and the other just moulted to 3/4" or so - how old are they by now? we have had them for 2 1/2 months, and they have moulted twice (or about to have the second moult). Just curious - with this second moult, the spider has doubled in size, so...

Thanks!

Yes, they did! The one who just shed is a little lighter than that now, tho that might be him/her still hardening after a shed... And he looks around that size, too. Thanks!

The pics I provided were of a 2nd instar. That is the first stage they they actually feed themself, after emerging form the eggsace. If you got it at this size, it was likely on the order of 2-6 months old at the time. That about as close as I can guess, based on my experience with them.

I'm trying to keep track of all my critters of approx age, growth, etc.

These two gobbled up as many fruit-flies as they could everyday for the first couple weeks we had them in early May. Now, they will eat 4-7 crickets 1/4" to almost 1/2" (for the one who just shed).

Thanks again!
