Question - what's this on the shed?

Buggzter Jul 14, 2007 06:08 PM

Here's a pic of part of the shed we got with the white knee. I noticed this black, small structure on the inside of the carapice and I'm wondering what it is and what it's for. The spider shed shows he's about 2" tip-to-tip, tho I have no idea how old it might be.

Thanks for any info! I'm always wanting to know more... lol!

It's the thing right in the middle that the light is shining on... Any ideas? Thank you!

I believe the term for that is the fovea. That is where all the internal structures, muscles and such, attach to the exoskeleton for support.
