My Red-Kneed (Ready) comes out of it's cave and stands around, moving here and there, then going back in his lair. I put in three crickets that ended up using his excavation to escape into, no doubt to Ready's open fangs.

One question: He has not spun any kind of webbing anywhere, yet still acts normally, like sitting at the mouth of his cave. Any ideas about why he is not spinning? Or is that something he might naturally not do?

B. smithi are not known to be very prolific webbers. Probably around molting time, you'll see more, but that's about it.
