Disappeared before molting, I peeked in.

I found bits and pieces of shed, so I knew she had molted, even though she had been underground for three weeks without eating anything. I waited two more weeks and lifted on edge of the dinnerplate she burrows under, and there she was, more beautiful than ever, and very actively hating the light I was letting into her lair. I never see her, but at least I know she's ok. Her setup is good for her type, so I have to trust that she's just acting normally.

My giant blue asian scorpion seems to have died and decomposed, or else she climbed the glass and is hanging out under the sofas. They can't climb glass, right? Knowing the answer to that is important to me right now, but not because I'm afraid of her.

Congrats on the molt. She'll come out when she's good and ready. I would not throw in any food until you see her out and about. When she want food, she'll come out looking for it.

As for your scorpion, is it an Heterometrus spinifer? If so I don't believe they can climb glass, but if it was kept in an aquarium, I suppose there is a chance that it climbed the silicone sealant in the corner??? Did you not have a lid on the tank? I don't understand how it could completely vanish, unless it got out. Even if it does in it's cage, it would not decompose to the point of not being able to find it. If you think it is lost, I'd try sifting through the substrate and verify that it hasn't burrowed, they will burrow. I'd highly suggest you go buy a blacklight to help you find it. Whether it is in the cage or not a black light will make it obvious where it is. And you'll be able to spot it from 10ft away, even under the couch. Even if it died, the exoskeleton will still fluoresce. I'll bet it is just hiding in its cage though.

I finely sifted the substrate looking for scorppion parts that are inedible, like the claws. No evidence. Are they really agile enough to climb the silicone in the corner? She sure didn't look like she could make that climb. And no, I didn't have a lid on the tank. I thought it was unecessary. I hope she can defend herself from my little kill-anything dogs. If she can climb out, I'll get a black light and search the living room. If she's out, she's much too cold to function, do I figure she isn't far from the cage. Good idea, thanks much. For now on, it's only screened tops.
