Ahem...LOL... With my Mexican Red-Kneed T, who is absolutely beautiful after it's molt, is content to camp out in it's excavated den, for months at a time. Vez told me to not worry, and when she shows up on the surface again is when she'll be hungry and hunting. At least then I'll get to see her without lifting the lid of her den. I want to be sure to not make her anxious in any way, so I don't make it a practice to lift the lid.

If anyone is reading this and knows the solution, I have a plan I'd like feedback on. I'm heating the tank to 75F with a CHE. This is slowly drying out the substrate. How do you re-dampen it (all the way to the bottom)? I'm thinkig that when she finally shows up on top and eats a cricket or two, I'll put her in a bottle and pour a little water on the peat mosss, and churn it in so it's very slightly damp again. She'll ahve to dig another den. Is this a good plan?

Roger

I always just overflow the waterdish. The overflow seeps into the strate and soak it down to the bottom. Since your T is burrowing under the dish, you may just choose to soak an opposite corner. Make a little starter hole to help the water go down instead of spreading across te surface. It may take a few small pours to get it to soak in the way you want it.
