Does anyone know of good, accurate care-sheets for these two: Mexican Red-kneed Tarantula, and for the Emporer Scorpion?

It's interesting. I have to be careful about how much I believe what's written about both races, with the scorps running far behind in care-sheet credibility.

I'll do my part tomorrow by searching the archives of both forums, and put in a few hyper-links to see how many of you agree about the details. Invertebrate husbandry seems to be at the point where iguana husbandry was in the 1960's.

I think it would save a lot of invertebrate misery if we could build a short, comprehensive care sheet about a few species that are 1.desert-dwellers 2. ground dwelling temperate-climate dwellers, 3. tropical terrestrials, and 4. Tropical arboreal species. We could post a link to these articles links at the top of the forum page.

But who knows, we might not be able to agree what is the best care for these guys.

Here are the best ones I've seen for Emperors:
http://www.thebts.co.uk/Pandinus_imperator.htm - I know the guy who wrote this one, he knows his stuff.
http://home.mindspring.com/~drrod1/ - good site as well

I've seen so many sheets for Mex Redknees it isn't even funny, they are all over the place and I cant reccomend just one. I generally read them all and average them out, and stick with common themes.

That being said they can be cared for exactly as you would a G. rosea, and hands down the best sheet for them is here:

My Red-Kneed continues to live a hermit's life, staying below. Unless he comes out when I'm asleep. I peeked in at him earlier today, and he was bigger and more beautiful than before the molt. He started to show some evidence of consternation, so I quickly lowered the plate. I do this once a month, for about ten seconds. I hope that's not too often or too long. I'm hoping he will get hungry and show up above the substrate so I can see him. Or her.

Vez, you've been a great help.

just curious at what times do you check on him? it seems all my T's are noctournal & most active at night. i like to check on them after midnight, really the later the better. I find they are very active when it is dark & quiet!

Admittedly I do check on him during the day, for ten seconds per month, to prove he is alive. I know that I have a better chance of seeing him after midnight. I'll put some crickets in at 11PM and go lights out. Then I'll steal flashlight peeks at him for a while after midnight.
