Well, unfortunately I can't see your picture right now to help confirm the ID. I'll have to take another look tonight when I get to a different computer.
But there are a lot of native Ts in California. Yes, even in the north. If it is a native it's in the Aphonopelma genus for sure.

OK, just saw the pic, definitely looks like a G. rosea. Odd that someone found it. The chances of finding a "released" T have got to be slim.
What type of bedding is it on, it appears to be some sort of wood chips, is that correct? If so you should switch to peat moss or a coconut coir substrate. Wood can be toxic to invertebrates.

thats what they had it on. I agree it is rare so wondering if they didn't get it themselves and looking to get rid of it and say it was from the desert, some ppl.
It now is on bed a beast, with moss and a hide, it's been on its hide since wed, and hasn't eaten, here is a pic of the enclosure. When i get paid i will get more soil and do it up better,it's already starting to web too. i covered the lid with surrand wrap and have a hole for the light, but it remain 60 in the cage i know it has to be higher than that, an ideas?
