Xenesthis immanis problems

fmanda Jan 05, 2008 12:43 AM

Hi everyone,
yesterday my sling X. immanis began acting strangely. It is in molt right now, its abdomen has turned from pink to black. It has become active but looks as though it is having trouble moving around. I keep waiting for it to turn over on its back and begin the molting process, but it just keeps wandering around kind of dragging its body. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Frank

It it old? SOunds like old age is a possibility. But I'm also not familiar with the species so I can't say if it might be normal. Once the abdomen turns black, you're usually looking at a week or two before the actual molt occurs, if that might help.

No it's only at about a 2.5" legspan right now so very young. It seems to be doing better the last couple of days though. I increased the humidity and that seems to have helped.

Hello,
I'm happy to announce that my X. Immanis finally molted and is absolutely stunning. Now I remember why these things are desireable.
