Substrate, humidity, temperature?

cjb579 Feb 01, 2008 08:55 AM

Hello,

I have a Chilean Rose Hair and currently have her (not sure, but her name sounds better for a female) bedded in coconut husk and small gravel. She hardly ever (shall we say never) comes out of her "spider lair" I have set up for her. I was just wondering how you all have your tanks set-up for this species. I don't care if she never comes out of her lair, I just want to make sure she is well taken care of.

What substrate do you all use with this species? What temperuature do you keep them at (she sits at an ambient temp of around 72 degrees F)? Where do you keep their humidity level (I try not to let her drop below 50% because I heard that might cuase problems with molting and she is still juvenile).

Thanks!

hardiest of T's. I keep mine on a mixture of chips and dry peat. I don't worry about humidity. 70 - 75 is excellent temp and they can tolerate the 60s as well if you choose to drop temp @ night. Other tips, hmmm: Rosies are notorious for fasting for long periods, they hate moist substrate so keep the enclosure dry. And always keep the waterdish full. peace

I concur, don't worry about temps and humidity. I threw out my guages long ago. Just give them a waterdish and they'll be happy.
