Redknee handling?

DONTshoot Mar 12, 2008 08:53 PM

Hello all, and thanks in advance for any advice. I've been keeping a chilean rose hair for a while so i got my courage up and got a 1 1/2 inch redknee. Just trying to get it into it's enclosure has introduced me to the concept of flicking hairs. He didn't get me too bad, because i didn't feel anything on my hands. My question is this: Is it too small to try handling? It looks pretty delicate. But I was thinking the sooner the better. Thanks

Not too early at all. Better to start now to get your self familiar with it too. Just be slow and cautious, because as you said they are fragile. Here's a pic of one I had on my hand. Probably about the same size as yours.

Thanks for the tip. He is still flicking hairs. But once in hand he usually stops. Will he do this less often with more handling? I was wrong about the size. He's more like 2 inches.

should I be spraying the spiderling's enclosure? the pet store guy had him with a lot of condensation in a small cup. But, i've read that high humidty is not really required. So does it need to be high, like above 70%? thanks, for reply

don't worry about humidity. Key is to keep water dish full at all times.
