We just took in a new T that had been abandoned. We're 90% sure it's a Chaco Golden Knee (Grammastola aureostiata), but we're not 100%, so if anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

She looks pretty dull and dry, as she was being kept in a 10 gallon w/ a very dry wood chip substrate...no moisture at all. She may also be getting ready to molt.

Well, here she is...what do you think?

That is 100% a Grammostola rosea (Chilean rose). Wood chips aren't ideal, but they do like a dry cage. A water dish is all they really need.

GO here for the best info on them.

Thanks, KJ! My wife and I are novices when it comes to Tarantulas. We've got a couple years' experience keeping them, but very little in the way of identification. She reminded us of the aureostiata we had...only duller. Thanks again!
Mike
