After receiving 3 spider bites (in the last 2 months at work and home, (Recluse or Hobo) I had one 13 years ago. I noticed numerous webs along the back of our house some at ground level some at 1st floor and under eaves of roof. I decided to get some traps, I bought a couple packages of traps and set them inside and outside the house and at my work. For about 3 days no luck, the 3rd night it snowed and dropped a tree or two down in our yard. During the fourth afternoon as my mom and I were moving the tree limbs from the street, we went to pick our gat up on the side of the house around dusk, I decided to shine the light up at underside eave of the roof. I then could not believe what I saw, it looked like a paper wasp nest with these large beetle looking insects (2" to 3" inches long) scurring in and out of the nest. I don't know now if it was theirs or they were just attacking it, these things must fly, because the next day when I went to videotape them. The nest and they were gone. Working the next couple days I didn't notice but the front eaves of our house from one end to the other were completely bare of spiders and webs like someone had pressure washed the house. On top of that all the spiders have disappeared or been eaten I guess, with the exception of one large one behind a glazed window don't know what it is. It's been in that area for at least two years and is still alive. A day later cockroaches started showing up at our work. My work and my home in the last thirty years we have never had cockroaches or seen one. In researching online the only thing I have found that is similar is an Oriental cockroach, or a Boxelder bug. They seemed more shiny though like the Oriental. They are very fast and aggressive and they left a terrible smell at work and at home, like rotten food.I was told by a Vet that alot of the traps are cheap and they may have put Roach attractant on it rather than that of a spider. Or maybe it is supposed to do that. Thanks for any of your replies. Photos of webs etc. coming soon.
Please let me know what they are.
