Is Metal halide lighting good for beardies?

piscivora May 28, 2003 01:25 AM

I was wanting an opinion on Metal Halide lighting for bearded dragons that cannot get natural sunlight. I was thinking of getting a sun light type lamp that is 100 watts for my beardeded d's and was wondering if it would be beneficial or a waste of money.

I'm not familiar with metal halide bulbs. Are they for plants? Is it guaranteed that they have at least 8% UVB or do they claim to be full spectrum. Full spectrum means UVA, not UVB. If these bulbs aren't made for reptiles I would hesitate on spending money on it. I would rather spend the money to get something that has been tried and true. Just my two cents worth. =D
