I know nothing about insects, but I found approximately 8 stag beetle lavea the other day at Plumstead in London UK, under an upended log, which I photographed. I identified them from photos on the web.
How rare are they?
To these lavea I was probably a very unwanted distraction. The weather was bitterly cold and I have a feeling that I did them no good whatsoever, by exposing them. I lifted the log a second time to take the photos and they were noticably less mobile. Do you think they will recover or did I condemen these poor individuals to an untimely death?
Regards
Paul
