Hercules beetles

HeracrossOtaku Aug 05, 2007 11:00 AM

I had a few questions involving Hercules beetles. A few days ago I had read an article on Beetle fighting in Japan, and I discovered that beetles could be bred. So I decided to search the internet to see if I could find out if there were any breeders or dealers who I could buy my own from. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything but breeders guides on how to care for them. Then I found this site somehow, but none of the links here helped at all. Are there any sites at all? If not does anyone have a suggestion to obtain some beetles? And how would one go about training a beetle for battle?

I am not so sure, my information will help you.But perhaps, it can be your addtional information. I have many friends in Indonesia who likes to collect beetles. I can not say they are breeder, because they hunt the beetle deep in the forest of Indonesia (Sumatera,Kalimantan,Sulawesi and Papua). These are some pictures of Indonesian beetles I have. Just check it.

Hey thanks for the info. I was beginning to think no one was going to respond at all. Actually, the second set of images ( http://salim-furnicraftexindo.blogspot.com/2007/08/chalcosoma-beetle-kumbang-indonesia.html ) are the beetles that I'm looking for. Is there a way for me to contact your friend? I would really like to own some for myself. Thanks.

I saw the same articles and thought the same thing. The one they were using actually lives to about 5 years vs the usual 1-2 years. I'll try to find their name for it.

http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~wp5k-tnd/oo.html Alot of these are 'stag beetles'. The Dorcus Hopei can live for awhile as an imago or adult.
