What kind of bugs do I have?

What kind of bugs do I have? The black one I know is some kind of beetle. The other one looks black and red but is really a dark green and red - I believe it is some kind of shield bug but I may be wrong. These bugs were found in Shelby, NC which is in the Western Piedmont of NC. Any help will be appreciated.
