Hullo all,

The other day my mom and I were doing yard work and we found a treasure-trove of millipedes. The first kind have white heads and legs, a black stripe down the back with the rest dark green/black and then the sides are tipped with a bright orange. A very striking milli indeed! The largest was about 1" and was much darker thank the rest which made me think that the smaller ones might be babies. The smaller they got the lighter the green/black was on their back. The segments are a bit broad and the orange tips and spots vary in size from 'pede to 'pede. We found over 15 of them and I kept about 12. They are really active and quite sociable with each other. The second kind was long, very thin and has a shiny black colour. They were no more than half an inch long. We only found about 6 and they are really hard to spot in my tank. Any information would really be appreciated because I would just love to know what my little guys are. Oh, btw, I'm in Dallas, Tx, which if anyone else is, if you want a really nifty milli, go look in your yard b/c the orange/white/black ones are really pretty and fun to watch. Just remember to let nature keep some. ::Grin::
