Getting rid of millipedes in my house

Motorhed Jun 15, 2004 01:13 AM

I live in North Carolina and this summer millipedes have started invading the house, they're not even an inch long and black or dark brown. i could deal with the ants but these things i cannot stand. they stink, whatever they secrete has this sweet smell that just makes me sick to my stomach.

is there any possible way of stopping them from coming in the house? at this point, i'll do anything. can exterminators keep them out? i dont want to kill anything, but these things just really bother me, if they're outside i'm fine with them but in my house i just cant stand. i'm sorry to all you millipede fans, bugs just arent my thing at all. actually i hate them lol.

i'm sorry if this has been asked before. i looked on google for ways of getting rid of them and this forum came up.

Do a search for "North Carolina State University Entomology Dept". There are some resources there as well as names of staff that will be able to help you. You could also contact your county Agricultural Co-op Extension.
