genetics breeding.. and thinkgs a breeder question...

yellermelon Oct 12, 2003 10:00 PM

ok i dont really want to be a breeder, more of a big hobbyist that wants to let his leos relationate and see what happens.lol i think ittl be neet. i am doing my reading now ive been keeping leos for a year and some change now, so i know the basics. ive also read the leo handbook. and both gecko genetics pages posted earlier on this forum. whowever im not a smart guy! i am still confused about morphs and such. i am almost sure i have all females whoever i will know soon (my blizzard and het for blizzard are still too young) so this is what i have:

female tremper albino
female high yellow (dont know what shes het for)
female normal
female hypo tang carrot tail
female bold stripe mabey pastel? dark black strip with white background
unsure high yellow het for blizzard ( i was told by seller)
unsure blizzard

my question is WHAT is the best male to get for a good first clutch turnout? i may only do this once it depends. i know they suck down food as babies and im prepared anything else i should know. i am also getting a hovabater thingy and have digi thermometers for it. what temps do you all have best luck with. and finally i am not doing this for the cash i knowwww it would take along time and lots of work to make money this way besides i dont wanna turn my babies into breeding machines (not that the male would mind lol) anyway thanks for anyhelp anyone provides

If you breed all of those females and they produce an average of 5 fertile clutches each that is a LOT of babies to care for. Also, that is a HUGE array of morphs there! No way to pick only one best greatest for that group. Why not select one or two to work with and narrow your focus a bit?

yeah thats what i had planned on. i just named off all the females so i could get some suggestions on what male to put with wich female. i actually only want to mate one female to see how it goes first before jumping in head first.

I would start with the carrot tail if you can afford a good male to put with her. The babies will be easier to sell.
