Stumped Growth?

animal_lover Jul 19, 2004 10:55 AM

I have had my giant black African millipede for almost a year, and it hasn't molted even once. Is there a problem with that, or am I not taking good care of her?

I've been keeping African millipedes for several years and have never seen one molt. I've never had them since they are babies though, so maybe at a certain point they don't molt anymore. I've also heard they just lose a section at a time and grow a new section when the old one falls off. Never seen it happen, although my millipedes do seem to be growing anyway.

it's been a while since I posted that question, and I'm glad somebody answered. Well, since about four days ago, I've noticed that my millipede is losing some of the sections in the back, and I can even see the soft tissue underneath. So I'm guessing it does take a long time, and that they might do do it very often.
