Hey all. i just joined up to the forum as im looking for help with my millies. i bought 2 about a month ago and they seem to have been fine up until now. the female has dissapeard under ground as she sometimes did but hasnt been back up for days. also since then there have been fruit flies appearing in the tank every so often. just wondering if this is bad and if so how bad. also is there any advice from anyone. i was thinking of changing the substrate to get rid of the flies but im worried about my female, as i was thinking that she may have gone underground to lay her eggs.

any help would be great. cheers

Woodsey

i've read in numerous places that they can go underground for weeks or even months when they lay thier eggs. was a post on the forums somewhere where the somebody diden't see his for around 6 months then had a bunch of babies.

as for the flies. no clue. they might be in thier because of the substrate, i've got regular dirt in mine with plants and thiers little fruit flies in it. but then, the tropical plants always had fruit flies buzzing around them before they were in the tank too. i don't think thier any harm at all, flies eat decaying matter so they might actually help the tank.
